Optimization Methods for Textile Cutting

1. Feed Optimization (Smartfeed)

The aim of the feed optimization is 'minimal segmentation' of object contours. In order to achieve this objective, device feed and segment lines are moved dynamically.

Practice:

Initial situation is a printed textile roll which must be cut by means of a rotating roll knife or laser.

The segmentation of the objects is prevented by performing an intelligent feed. If the object to be cut is larger than the table length, segmentation is performed conventional.

The animation on the right side illustrates the optimization of the feed and the treatment of the objects.

Oversized objects for textile cutting will be equipped and separated with Segment Helpers.

2. Segment Helper

When textile cutting oversized objects so called segment helpers* come into action. They prevent the emergence of runs.

Types

Laser Head

Rotating Roll Knife

Materials:

Textile, Cloth, Fabric, Carbon Fiber, Felt, Glass Fiber, Leather Skin, Nylon

Practice:

The segmentation of contours in textile cutting frequently leads to distortions. Hooks and Circles are preferably used with lasers; T Shape using rotating roll knives. Result is a textile cut without runs.

The animation on the right side illustrates the use of segment helpers.

*) Segment helpers are driver options in customized drivers especially for textile cutting
